Liberman Says Hagee Better Than Greek Gods

Via TP God said; let there be light, he created pastor Hagee.

Lieberman again drew a parallel between Hagee and biblical figures, this time saying biblical heroes, unlike the demigods of Greek mythology, “are humans — great humans, but with human failings.” Lieberman said that Moses had his shortcomings, too.

Unlike the Greek gods? The Greek gods had numerous faults, Zeus was a whore, Poseidon was greedy, Ares was a murderer, should I even go on? They could also die, they weren’t immortal like the god Lieberman worships, something that turns me off about these Christian extremists.

The Greek gods had faults because it’s too crazy of an idea that someone out there, even a god, could ever be perfect. Look at the Q from Star Trek, would it be believable at all if the Q was perfect? At least as it currently stands it’s up in the air, but if the Q simply made everyone happy you lose the point of the show. If god is perfect and attempting to make everyone happy we wouldn’t have a reason to live. We’d sit around all day waiting for a god to fix everything for us, if our gods have faults it gives faith a reason to carry on. I have faith in the possibility that a race like the Q exist, my faith in god hinges on the believe that he’s not perfect. This is why I feel like Greek mythology has a point and this extremist Christianity has little value, the idea that anyone is perfect is a flawed concept.

Not only is Lieberman missing the point of religion he’s missing the point of life. He’s turned the political debate into a philosophical mush, of course Moses had his shortcomings, even Jesus wasn’t perfect.

“Dear friends, I can only imagine what the bloggers of today would have had to say about Moses and Miriam.”

Christianity didn’t get it’s fame until after Jesus died, even then it was slow growing until a few hundred years ago. The reason bloggers write so much about people like you is because you speak to all 300 million+ of us on a daily basis. Moses and Miriam didn’t have 300 million people hanging on their every word, it wasn’t until well over 1000 years after their death that everyone started talking about it. If the bloggers today had anything to say about Moses and Miriam I’d love to see it, instead of hearing about 0 AD from a single book I’d much rather hear personal accounts from thousands of people who were there. Who cares if what they said were good or bad, it’s history, why would we ever want to distort the record just to make someone, who may have done horrible things, look good?

Oh wait, that’s what the entire next 4 years is going to be about, Bush isn’t THAT bad, don’t listen to the people. You can’t manipulate history anymore, there’s too many of us that can read and write, it’s ruined your plans. If we could only force people into private education, then only the rich and elite would be able to read and write, things would be so much easier.
